This is primarily of interest to my Lightroom, Photoshop, and other digital photo students (some of whom I know visit this blog) but might be worth reading for other photo enthusiasts.
Apparently the Library of Congress has funded a working group through the American Society of Media Photographers to develop a set of best practices for the processing and archival of digital images. This is very welcome as there is a lot of misinformation out there as to what file formats, media storage types, and post-processing techniques to use to get the most information and longevity out of digital images. I already teach pretty much everything listed on the quick reference PDF and I heartily recommend adopting these practices if you have not already done so.

I still have more Vegas shots to come, but I took this today and I was quite pleased with it. It's not perfect, but I didn't have a lot of time to tweak my composition.

In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly, Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved, and were loved, and now we lie, In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe: To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields.
--John McCrae
