I'm just curious, do 'locks' have any particular meaning or are you fascinated with them? I find it an interesting choice of subject matter.

I'm fascinated with boundaries, edges, gates, and other transitional zones. Locks come in to play as part of that, acting as guardians obstacles. Right now, they are on my mind because of the art show I'm putting together which will deal with such themes. I'm not even as fascinated with the locks themselves as I am with what we choose to lock and how.

That's a really interesting idea. I agree it's interesting what people keep locked up.

with boundaries, edges, gates, and other transitional zones

Would you keep these to physical objects and locations for the photos? I was just thinking of boundaries as personal space, like someone with a lot of space around but in a crowd.

I've definitely had ideas like that. The challenge is translating them into images. Pretty much everything I've done for this show thus fas has been "street" stuff, unposed and unplanned. I've seen interesting arrangements of people in public places (on a bus, in a food court, etc.) but it's very difficult to take photos of them without interfering with them.
